November Walk in the Woods

Our autumn color is past its peak and more subtle now. The leaves are falling, and by the end of the month, most of the trees will be bare.

Lovely Leigh.

We are about to get Winter in spades, so our usually non-native leaves will avoid the pleasant yellow-red-orange phase and go directly to "dead".

TB, I'm always sad when that happens. And there doesn't seem to be a set formula for when we get good color and when we don't. One of those mysteries of nature, I suppose.

Oh, your fall woods are beautiful and yes, they don't last nearly long enough for me either. Our last trip to the Arboretum was still beautiful in different ways, but soon to be bare. However, in the woods some of the bare trees are magnificent and you really can't see it until the leaves are out of the way :) Hope your winter is tolerable and that you can find the beauty in the snows, frosts and ice scenes :)

Andrea, I agree that dormant trees are beautiful in their own way. I find branches patterns against the sky fascinating! I hope we all have a tolerable winter. :) One never knows!

Christine, it's my favorite place on the homestead. :)

What a beautiful walk in the woods Leigh! ♥ I have to do a little walking myself, we had a big windstorm and I noticed a lot of fallen trees, want to check that out.
